PS Audio's Paul McGowan series of building a new Company listening room...This is the first video in a 7 part series...

This made me smile, to hear his genuine heartfelt homage to HIS 3.6's with Mye Audio Stands and the Tympani III Bass Panels...He really gets into it at the 6:00 minute point if you do not want to watch the whole video...
With in the first 2 minutes of video he describes the whole system including the Tympani III bass panels...

I know that feeling, when I packed up my 1.6's after 12 years...
Enjoy...I did...
Thanks
Mark

I have also followed those videos, in 8 parts. I visited that room between part 6 and "Tuning the room". Last part is video number 7, where they found the best placement of the speakers. When I visited the room they were not satisfied with the way it sounded. I was not that impressed either, maybe it was in some kind of retuning at that time? To my surprise, the soundstaging was to narrow forvmy taste and bass was rather weak. As Paul was not there at the time, maybe it was not hooked up correctly? The placement of the speakers and the seating were at least different.

Perils of room design. Room is built to the "Golden Ratio" but the final results were not as expected.

You may have found the sound stage too narrow because the speakers are too big for the room. Gary Koh's minimum room width recommendation for the Genesis 1.2s, the successor to the IRSs, is 19 feet. This room is 15" wide.

I found it interesting that the huge built-in bass traps in the back of the room did not work as expected and they had to move the listening position to smooth things out.

Here's a great video by Floyd E. Tool that covers subwoofer placement at about 30:00 and room dimensions at 42:00. Some of this is home theater oriented but never the less fascinating.
