$200 Magneplanar II. Read a good bit before visiting the seller. They sounded good in his installation, driven by a generic HT receiver. I was able to lightly feel around both the top and bottom of the panels and I could not feel any evidence of delamination, nor could I hear any buzzing or discontinuities. But for $200 what the heck !

Challenge will be driving them. My main amps are a pair of Cary 40m mono blocks...about 40wpc. I can quickly swap in a Mac 2100 (about 150wpc) if needed, but I would prefer to stay with tubes.

I did notice that the panels are a bit wobbly on their bases. L brackets between the panels and base, along with a few bricks to weight down the brace will take care of that.

Looking forward to listening !

Sounds like a deal! The II's came in 5 versions - II, II improved, IIa, IIb and IIc. The IIa has a symmetric 3rd order crossover and the IIb and IIc use asymmetric first order filters for the crossover. I am not sure about the crossovers for the II and the II improved.
The looseness is probably due to the MDF giving way. You might want take the screws out and put sawdust and wood glue in the holes and re-attach the base. There are also screw inserts that you could use. Consider attaching struts to the back as well regardless. This will improve your bass response (which is pretty good already).
I suspect you will want to use the bigger amps.

Sounds like a find even if delaminates by next year....

The Mac is going to do much better driving them. Look to a KT120 capable amp with 4 output tubes per channel to make the most of the speaker.

Optionally - consider modifying the speaker for biamping with tubes on top, SS on bass. It will be particularly nice with the 1st order IIb and IIc designs.
