They use Nordost hook-up wire, planar magnet, (I think?), 2-ways, that become stacked in the larger models...

Pet Peeve of mine...are these highly stylized marketing pics...NEVER SHOW ANY WIRES...
thanks

No bass spec

Perhaps they use foil and cover it with protective and damping coating.Like the 30nf maggies use and the unknown black material BG spray on their Neo diaphragms. You can barely make out the outline of the etched conductors in the Neo drivers.

The flimsy support scheme indicates they are not worried about bass output rattling the thing.

Their discontinued design looks like a take on ET planars.

His room needs furniture and junk to diffuse the music. Plants or hanging feather boas from the ceiling, maybe colorful bead chains....

What's this hangup of audiophiles and zen rooms.

He was actually telling me I need room treatments...My silk fichus tree diffusors and sonnex corner bass panels and Sonnex panels behind my rack did not count...

Thanks for the good laugh...

"Close your eyes the music is in front of you". No ribbon tweeters - mylar. 6dB octave filter. No specs. Comes in 3 different colors though so high FAF (wife acceptance factor in French). Vin de France, Oui: ces hauts parleurs, Non.

Damn, they're cool looking.

How can they be electrostatics with no power cords?

Should do something like this and .. wait for it... CHARGE MORE MONEY FOR THEM.

Yeah, I'm glad they're the 'value' company but just sometimes you wish they'd do something that's more expensive and you know... nicer.

I was always interested in these Infraplanars developed by Claude Lacroix some years back. I just didn't have the room. Makes the DWM kind of puny looking.

Here's a full range speaker with bass at the bottom.

Some of you may have seen these. Here's the link.

I've made the suggestion SEVERAL TIMES for Magnepan to open what I'd call 'The Custom Shop' with a choice of REAL wood frames and options for NO crossover for the active or passive biamp folks. Grill Cloth totally at option of the buyer.

Magnepan would need several hi-end wood workers and the proper machine tooling to support them. A complete woodshop is NOT cheap.
You'll need a cabinet saw capable of handling 6 foot frame pieces. A Planer. Several routers and a shaper. All sorts of tooling and someone to buy the wood.
Too much is never enough

And a CNC machine...it is isolated from the main floor to keep dust away from the Mylar...the wood trim is stacked in racks humidity controlled...

They have the capabilities, but I got the feeling...special orders due upset us...

They are a production operation, that run one model at a time, based on demand...about 25-30 people... The electronics are in a room isolated from the plant, like the wood shop, show up on the floor, installed, then go for testing in 3 separate sound rooms and are in for a 2-4 hours of run in... Socks go on, off to boxing and shipping...

A very lean machine...employees take great pride in there work and feel they make the best speakers on planet...

My background is in high end Cast stone and architectural precast industry...we have FULL wood shop and 12 cabinet grade quality carpenters...so I know that Magnepan does have the tools to do what you were asking...which is a great idea...many us Maggie owners would love those type of options...
Thanks
Mark

I'm very familiar with 'lean' manufacturing. JIT is another term bandied about. Just In Time is a techique for NOT having lots of stuff around the shop, just what you are working on, with supplies for only a short time. You depend on your shippers, both to and from you.

I can't imagine how much and how awful the dust raised by the current operation of milling the frames causes. And yes, it must be in a part of the plant completely segregated from the 'finer' areas.
