I have a NAD C 316 BEE for a secondary system. I was wondering if it was stout enough for the MMGs or larger 'pans? Small room, 14x12. Thoughts?

Watts into 8 & 4 ohms, etc. would really help. By larger pans you still mean the 12's? Subwoofer?

40 watts 8 ohms, I would assume doubled into 4. Manufacture claims 200 watts peak into 4 ohms. I know this is the very low end of power for Magnepans. Just wondering what kind of trouble I would run into at moderate volume in a small room.

Before I bought my MMGs I borrowed a pair of 12s from my local dealer to try in my small room - smaller than yours. They worked great but I didn't have the cash for the 12s at the time so I decided to give the MMGs a try since I could return them if I didn't like them. I immediately found the MMGs to be much more efficient than the 12s, despite the two models having the same efficiency rating. I played a pair of SMGbs for years with an old Adcom GFA 535 rated at 60 W per side into 8 Ohms with no problems. I don't think you'd have a problem. If you do get them I suggest hooking them up turning on your system to repeat play something with some heavy bass and walk away for at least 8 to 10 hours. Mine sounded horrible out of the box and continue to improve four months later.

Given the low power of the NAD relative to the usual 'needs' of panels, I'd recommend trying to offload the bass frequencies to a sub. That'll give you some additional 'apparent' power and extend bass response into the mud, if done properly.
