the TV room is just too darn hot! especially between 3-5pm when the Sun swings over the roof and hits the West side of the house.

I've got AC but I prefer the nice cool breeze flowing from my front door straight through and out the livingroom window (not to mention I'm too cheap to run AC).

So I had the day off and decided to set up my MMGs (Gunned style) along with my squeeze box and Krell in the livingroom. Got the components on wheels so I can conveniently roll em' out of the way and return the livingroom back to norm.

The sound? Great! I don't listen to the G-MMG's as often as I like since I'm hooked on the 20's. But I gotta tell ya; the MMGs are sweet as they can be.

I picked up the Foreplay preamp a couple months ago off fleabay fairly cheap (around $225). This is probably the third or fourth one I've owned over the years (I built my first one from scratch, but don't have the time anymore to do it again). A very smooth way to round off the Krell while adding a bit of honey to the Maggies. They're a great find when they appear online.

Hi. GL;

Your "Gunned" MMGs look GREAT! PG surely listened well in wood shop!

One question...Did PG keep the standard width of your MMGs?

Thanks...old guy

Do you prefer them in some ways over the big boys? Do they draw you toward some types of music?

Hi. S-Cat;

MMGs fit my room and my pocketbook.:)..They also fill my need to tinker. I doubt I would tinker with the "big boys."

Musically, with some mods, they are, for "me", very satisfying. I mostly listen to the dreaded smooth jazz and standards.

Thank you for asking!...old guy

hi Old Guy; well the current MMGs on Magnepan's website list the MMGs at 14.5 x 48; mine are 16.5 x 48. The extra inch on each side adds more rigidity yet they're still able to maintain their sleek profile.

I spent a good 3 hours listening to acoustic jazz yesterday (primarily my interest but I do listen to other types of music). They project a good soundstage although they don't like a lot of space behind them compared to my 20s (my 20s stand almost 7' from the rear wall while the MMGs begin to lose 'focus' > 5'-6' IMO). I'm still learning them and will continue listen to them critically in the next few weeks.

Stock MMGs continue to be considered the best bargain in speakers today, the upgraded XO and frame takes them to an even higher level for sure.
