 This time we (myself and Photoguy) met over at M3 Lover's house where he showcased his beautiful JansZen zA2.1.

I must say I was extremely impressed with the JansZens; powered by two Parasound A1 mono blocks, they were lightning quick, fluid, and displayed a cohesiveness typically only found full range drivers (the JansZens are two-way).

Although relatively modest in stature (I'm estimating 3' tall) the JansZens projected an image that more than filled his 17x20 room. Upright bass (my personal 'litmus test' so to speak) sounded magnificent and dead on the money.

Thanks again for the hospitality, extensive knowledge base (from both M3 Lover and Photoguy); along with a truly great time in sound reproduction. Looking forward to our next gathering!

 It was a fun little gathering. I greatly appreciate your comments on the speakers/music.

Now you can appreciate why I maintain that the full potential of the Janszen zA2.1 may not be realized under show conditions. Of course, that could be said for many components. ;^) But I'm confident I've been able to get much more out of my pair than I heard at two public demos.

For a few technical details - the amps areParasound Halo JC-1s, which I demoed in their "high bias" setting, as I do for my own critical listening. The speakers on their standard plinth stand 39.5" tall so pretty close with that. And David Janszen describes these as "two-and-a-half-way" models. The two electrostatic panels utilize different crossover points for their tweeter sections. But GL's point relates to the dynamic woofer blend with the electrostatic mid/tweets. The room has an 11' ceiling, but what really adds cubic volume is the large opening at the upper half of the rear wall to three other rooms (it's a multi-level townhome).

 Thanks for verifying that these speakers work well in a large room. I have the JansZens but I'm "contained" in a spare bedroom (12' x 13') as my listening cave. I anticipate putting them in a bigger room some day and it is good to know they succeed there as well.

You don't have to convince me that they sound good however. I have been enjoying these cohesive ESL hybrids for going on two years.

Oh by the way, SimpliFi audio operates out of San Diego.

Tim has a workshop (and I mean workshop---he is a real hard core electrical&audio engineer) in a suite hotel in Clairemont.

I just picked up the Anti-Mode Dual core. With the room correction & some manual parametric EQ, my 3.6 sound very very good now. Fully recommended.

You need to come up to North County. As soon as the Heat Wave passes, I'll be playing 'host' to the gang and you are not only welcome, but encouraged to drop by. My amp stands, from the boxes the amp CAME in are a sight to behold! I'm working on a Maple butcher block / cutting board right now which is the prototype for part of my stands which are in the planning stage.

If the time is nailed down pretty good, I'll be able to fire up the Weber for the ritual burning of the meat.
