Found a pair of Acoustat at the local……San Diego / Koby's Swap Meet last Saturday. They were about 5' tall…shorter perhaps…and fairly wide. Over 2' to be sure. Much wider than my 1.6s.
Trouble? Well, the boxes in back…Power Supply? had been opened.
The guy wanted 500$ for 'em…..and since I couldn't hear 'em, I passed, not to mention that I just got a bad feeling. The screws (hex head) on the PS boxes had all been messed with.

Any idea as to model and worth?

Model X or subsequent from the monitor series

When refurbed they are great speakers. $500 may be a little steep if they are not operating. The damage on the interface or amp box nuts is a good sign as it indicates some effort was made to update the speaker.

If you were to part them out, the panels would go for @ $75 each - maybe a little more. The transformer interfaces I think you were describing, if in good working order would go for $600 - $800 depending on vintage. Given that you cannot verify the status of the interfaces, $500 is a little steep, but no overly so.

I usually alternate between Kobey and the one in Spring Valley; I was on my way to Kobey last weekend but decide at the last minute to go to SV instead.

Kobey always has the guy from the TV show 'Storage Wars'. His area always has a ton of electronic accessory stuff namely cables, interconnects and a gazillion assorted bulk wire. There's always lot of good looking Monster cable interconnect and bulk (1000' boxes) of RG6 and CAT5,6 wire.

Then there's a cool Asian guy who sets up periodically with a lot of great 'hefty receivers' from the late 90s, early turn of the Century. I bought my garage Onkyo reciever off him for $70. He backs up his gear and gives out his card willing to exchange if any problems occur.

Not a lot of good audio gear at Spring Valley SM, I usually go just out of boredom plus it's only a couple miles from me. Kobey is great because as you know it's literally right next door to Stereo Unlimited, although they're closed on Sundays. Hell maybe I need to start dragging my stuff out there lol....

Hey GL,

Are you in town for awhile? You've been posting quite a bit lately. If so, we should do another get-together with Pictureguy.

Is Spring Valley SM doing an electronics Saturday once a month again? They had that monthly feature several years ago but I understood they discontinued it.

Pictureguy, I think you were wise to pass up untested electrostatics, or likely any unknown speaker at that price.

Don't know about a electronics day at the SVSM.

Amazing; I remember going to that swap meet back in the late 80s and some of the vendors are still there including the musical instrument vendor in the exact same spot. Ditto for Kobey's.

I must confess I'm a swap meet fanatic. When I lived in the Bay Area back in the 90s I'd hit the Alameda Swap meet every weekend. Found a pristine pair of Original Advents there (the big heavy mothers) for $40. Kept em' for years.

I'm home for good. I'm ready whenever you guys are!

Another guy had a Herman Miller chair….the Aeron.
This is a 900$ chair new and was the darling of the 'Dot Com' Bubble boys.

He wanted 250$ for an absolute BEATER I'd have offered 75$ for and not paid a penny more.

I bought a Demo CXO chair which weighs a ton, has ALL the bells and whistles and fits like you're sitting in a hand…..

I have ZERO idea how much the 'stats would have been worth, even if pristine…..

They were 'FLAT'

And based on my looking at google images, either 3s or 2s……the scale of the photos is misleading, maybe.

Any word from the SD Audio Society on having a room at THE Newport?
I stood my watch last year, earned my pass and saw much of the show for the price of parking.

I haven't heard BOO for MONTHS.
