GGGIII as y'all might now by now, is getting old. He is >17.

Whether it's been our HOT Summer days / his forgetting to drink / eat / and being quite morose and lethargic. He has also been getting 'blocked up.'

Which we found out at his scheduled 'check-up and arthritis shot', on Thursday last! So, he was given an enema - Microlax - as well.

A *consequence* of which was that he put a 9 inch long turd in the cat-carrier on the way home.

Thank God for:- abundant old and free city-community newspapers, high-speed fans, aim-able vents, and A/C.

Having been shown how to search for this condition with the fingers into his sides forward of his back legs, I 'think' he may be constipated again and already! Oi vey!

At the same visit it was suggested that a long-lasting shot of anabolic steroid might rev him and his appetite, and hos bowels up. But that appointment's not till nest Thursday. He survived the LONG TURD bit, but should we wait until then for the vets to confirm inexperienced old me's suspicion!

Or do I 'give him one up the bum'!? ASAP.

Moving on? So, how's Dondi Trollop doing, I hear you all ask? Despite being on the same (anti-hyper-thyroid and US made) prescription diet, for >6 months? The usual manic food obsession, while overweight and still hunts every day? Mostly skinks.

I nearly forgot to add, that she's still loving and affectionate in her own mega-needy way. ;-)

At least they bury their pooh, eh?

He was healthy and active (beyond the typical slow-down of older age) through 17 years until one day I came home to find him just sitting in his litter box. Didn't seem to be in any distress, so I wasn't real concerned until the next morning when I found him still sitting in the box. Took him to the vet who immediately diagnosed the problem, cleaned him out, and things were back to normal for about 4 months until the situation repeated itself. Back to the vet, cleaned out, added some liquid laxative to his diet, and things were good for about 3 months. Then 2, and back to the vet. Then 1. And at the end his bowel just quit functioning on its own. He lived by the litter box, not in obvious pain, but very obviously uncomfortable. I had a wonderful vet who looked me in the eye on the last trip and told me that his internal organs were just shutting down, and there was nothing that he could do to change that. And as much as I loved the little critter, he had no quality of life and was spending his conscious moments in misery which I couldn't allow to continue. Toughest thing I'd had to do at that point in my life giving the nod to put him to sleep. And almost 20 years later, I too still miss him.

Timbo, the only advice I can offer is to make GGGIII as comfortable as possible, and if that involves violating his rump then do it if you're confident he's constipated again.
