I am going to upgrade my MkIII amps. What improvement will the stock MQ output tranny give me over the Dynaco iron? Can I get options like special cores or wire etc?

Thanks,
Clyde

Why are you upgrading the transformers? Are they blown, or shorted out?

I did an A-B test of my MKIII and a similar amp with Plitron OPTs. The detail and soundstage wewe huge compared to my Dynaco rig. As the circuits were built by the same person using like components yet the one with the Plitron OP proved to be head and shoulders above the Dyna iron, I am seeking a change.

The MQ iron would be an easy change as the Plitron would require a new chassis. Plus Plitrons would run about $700 per pair.
