Thanks VS, for weighing in, and Mike for the posting. My favorite chart is the CCS and resistive cathode bias in the 2A3 pair. I think it indicates the asymmetry of the compact when the phase inversion relies more on balancing voltage swing (R), than closely sympathetic current swing or draw (CCS). I have installed a 2k5 cathode resistor, in a direct-coupled compact, which allows for 45s, 2A3s and 2.5V300Bs; I think its a high enough value to function a little as a CCS. Maybe such a circuit, with the driver plate above 150V and the shared cathode of the output drawing no more than 40mA+40mA might open some experimental doors. Sure sounds good. The EXO-173 circuit still trumps the compact, on all but small acoustic ensemble recordings, in my odd-ball system, etc... Thanks, again. --keto
