Hello,

I recently picked up a pair of LL1692 PP transformers to use as interstage transformers in my 2A3 PP amp.

The driver tube is a 6E5P triode connected. The output transformers are Partridge P5353 (6K). The current interstage is a Delta ( Indian made) .

I have read on this forum the LL1692 PP is prone to ringing in the HF. Should I go ahead and use the 1692 transformers or look at other alternatives from Lundahl?

Regards
Rajiv

From my own experience with Lundahl, I would guess that if any model at one time was by nature problematic it would have been discontinued or had its design revised.

Ringing or not (in a well designed transformer) will depend to a large extent on how the transformer matches the surrounding circuity. Do you have a complete / detailed schematic of the circuit you're planning to put the 1692 into?

You might also enjoy a look at the thread linked below. Good posts there, some for detailed understanding , some straight and practicable(PRR). (Note PRR's comment "Don't try to eliminate the ring. . . . " )

Best of luck! P-P 2a3 can sound very good.

If you have the LL1692 PP interstage transformer, I won't recommend you to use it because it suppose to be used for PP to PP operation unless you want to run it as parafeed.

It is a lot easier to drive the 2A3 PP with long tail pair phase inverter which is much simpler and fail safe to do.
