Bought and built one of these about 12 years ago, still working well and I'm still extremely happy with it. Have adjusted MC loading over the years by ear, however, I'm still not clear on the meaning of the settings. Are the indicated resistance values (25, 50, 100, 200, etc.) equivalent to what they would be as a pure gain stage, even though step-up transformers are being used?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Mark, The numbers adjacent to the switch positions are resistor values, which with the proper math and the step-up ratio can be used to calculate the actual load impedance.

I offer, for asking, a spreadsheet program that will allow you to calculate that load impedence. Send an e-nail to me and I will happily send it to you.

Thanks, Kevin. I wasn't sure if you had possibly set these up in such a way, like finagling the preamp's input resistance, that the numbers on the switch equaled that of a straight gain stage. I will send an email posthaste for the spreadsheet to get the actual values, thanks much.
