I need high level balanced input to SE tube grid (10y) 1:4 transformer. I assume both can be used. Would the difference in performance only be dictated by the core used (amorphus via mumetal) when both of them would operate in 1:4 configuration ?
TIA, W
PS. Project is input trans (1:4)-10Y-IT-PSE300B

The core material and the input overload capability come into play, the latter dependent on input signal levels. The overload figures are not so different and I can't see you at such high levels that there would be an audible difference between them that is solely due to the level.

Since the amp will have balanced input with low impedance I wonder If I could string LL1540/LL1521 High impedance trans for RCA input. Not very elegant but maybe it would work as a substitute for an active stage?
