Hi Kevin and All,

I'm very happy to report that my DIY Lundahl 1681 Mono SUT is finally connected and so far sounds great!

I connected only the right channel into the primary core and both channels to the secondary core. As Kevin informed me, the phono stage's impedance is halved from 47k to 23.5k. So the cartridge "sees" a load impedance of 23.5k divided by 13 squared (step-up ratio) which is equal to 139 ohms.

Apparently, the ideal load impedance setting should be between the one given by the cart's manufacturer (>20 ohms) + 10x the internal impedance (50 ohms) or 70 ohms for my Otofon Quintet mono.

I will let the transformer break-in for a while but if I wanted to get closer to 70 ohms and integrate a resistor (approx 42k), where would I solder the resistor? For example, between the secondary core and the wires to the RCA jacks? Would I need one or two in this case? Only to the + connection or both the + and - connections to the RCA jacks? I know it's supposed to be in parallel, I'm just not sure what that means - an image would be great...

Thank you in advance for any help offered.

You would solder the resistor between the + and - connections to the RCA jacks. One resistor works for feeding both channels.

Thanks Kevin... So, from the same single resistor, I would connect it to the + and - terminals of the left and right RCA jacks with a total of four soldered wires. Is that correct?

If you have wired the output jacks in parallel, then you only need to put the resistor on one of them. That resistor is in parallel with both 47K input resistors, then.

Ok, thanks Kevin for your answer and patience... I'm kind of new at this...
