Kevin,

I was looking at the PP D3a input stage -

and thinking it would be really easy to adapt this to an Amity style amplifier with adequate gain. Are there issues with running these into PP 300b's?

Best,

Chris

My buddy Fernando has the same input stage driving a PP pair of 6C33C, so I suspect that they will do 300Bs.

Kevin,

I'm guessing Fernando has the tricked out PS from the circuit you showed last year with the 3 minute delay timer for the B+ so that the heaters have the time required to come to temp? That would be way cheaper! 300b's are so expensive.

Were you ever able to try the PSE/PP switch on your mono block prototypes?

Best,

Chris

Yes, he tested a couple of the new series of products that are described in my website blog. Here's a picture of the power supply board that he used. It was originally developed for the SE 6C33C, but works well for any tube power amp.

Thanks Bas! I also hope that it's useful for building more and better amplifiers!

Izzy Wizzy Audio has some schematics on his site for using D3A to drive 813s in PP. He ultimately opted to use something else as he was driving the D3As too hard, but this suggests that they might work for 300B. I like the idea. Keep us posted.

Kevin,

Is there a PP 6c33 circuit available? Those boards sure make the original PS a lot easier to wire. Also, IIRC, some of the parts were difficult to source when I reviewed the SET circuit last year.

Best,

Chris
