Hi all,

I hope I am not covering old ground – I have done a search and not found exactly what so…

I hope to directly couple a 6C6 pentode to a 2A3; however, 6C6 pairs can be pretty variable in the current they draw, which of course affects the voltage dropped the plate R, thereby messing with the amp’s operating points etc.

I’d like to run a K&K constant current sink in the cathode of the 6C6. How is this done – is it as simple as setting the CCS for 2.8mA (2.4mA for the plate, ~ 0.4mA for the screen), placing it between the 6C6 cathode and the usual 0V signal ground position (I use the negative leg of the screen bypass cap) and bypassing it with the usual capacitance?

Any assistance muchly appreciated.

Cheers,
Ray
