hI had not been aware of this forum until today, but have found the material herein facinating! Quite some time ago, when discussing the benefits of adding electrons to the audio signal path in the tweaks/diy forum, May Belt proposed that we consider the changes occuring to the individual listener when analyzing the perceived improvements in sound playback. I found that proposition intriguing. Being a fish lover, I decided to try an experiment for the halibut. I had fashioned several DIY negative ion generators by shining a halogen lamp light through tourmaline beads. I, like others, noticed a perceived benefit by pointing the generator at electronic components and speaker cabinets. Playing off of May's suggestion, I decided to point the generators at ME(my electromagnetic field), in my listening position during playback.. I noted a small, but definite improvement in transparency. The light proved to be too hot and distracting, so I discontinued the procedure. I have always wondered if the improvement was as real as I thought, or if I just wanted it too badly. Wondered if someone else had tried it, or would try it and report back.

I worked in a health food store in the middle 80s and sold a number of neg ion generators. The reports that came back were all similar, everyone who was near these always felt better and more relaxed. If I remember correctly that neg ions are generated ahead of a low pressure front, people enjoy clouds, rain and smell of the air. Positive ions are generated ahead of a high pressure front, santa anas here in so cal and no one feels good about that either before or during.

My wife has a high stress job and was having some problems sleeping. Not wanting to use meds, I explored some other methods. One was measuring her body voltage (you can research how to do this). She was measuring about 1.3 to 1.5 V. I picked up a grounding sheet for our bed. On the first night, she said she felt like she was sinking deeper into the bed. I measure her body voltage the next morning and it was down to about 0.5V. She sleeps deeper and feels better since we’ve been using this.

Of course, YMMV.

I read on this and it is something we might pursue. I did a DC test with voltmeter by setting it to 200 millivolts and grabbed both ends between my left fore finger and thumb. My voltage was around 25. I tested my wife who wears a crystal, 3. My daughters boy friend read 28 and my daughter read -12. I went outside took off my slippers and stood on some wet ground. My reading went to -10. I guess standing on the ground increases my neg charge and I became a doner of ions. Dont know what it means if anything and its interesting. Wes
