Hello,
After looking at various posts, I have a few questions about large pro-audio coax's such as the Radians, Eminence(Thorsten's new project),Beymas, ect. I know that the best x-overs are 1st. order types, keeping everything in phase and such. Can this be done with these large coax drivers, or should the x-overs be higher-sloped designs? I know this is a broad question, but I wanted to know if this can be done and if there are any examples of this type of x-over approach with these coax's out there? Most of the x-overs I have seen on the manufacturers web sites have been 12db-per octave designs, but I think that maybe this is for high-power applications. I think this would be critical, since the x-over will be in the 300Hz to 8000Hz "sensitivity zone". Thorsten, Tom Brennan, any advice or comments?

Doug---I don't think there's a "right" crossover type, they all seem to have some compromises. Implementation is the key. You could certainly try 1st order xovers with co-axes and see if you like it. I've run Altec compression drivers at 500 cycles, 1st order (not from any theoretical basis but simply because the parts were at hand) with success. But I don't listen to things as loudly as I used to either.
