Hi there,

>Do all Axiom 80s have a wizzer cone?

Yes.

>Do the old and new drivers have the same wizzer?

By the looks of the Pictures at www.diyaudio.de of the re-issues, no. The Old series has a VERY thin paper, impregnated with some kind of laquer, it is very fargile and litereally prone to breaking.

The new series whizzer is just unpimpregnated paper, aparently the smae as the cone.

BTW, the "$0.98 Lowther Tweak" works also great on the Axiom 80....

I asked because someone has an 80 missing the wizzer. Do you think it can be fixed?

thanks
Tom

Hi there,

It will be very difficult to fix. The Whizzer is made from very thin paper and has an exponential profile. This is EXCEPTIONALLY difficult to replicate.

There are perhaps a few people in the world (mostly one elderly Gentleman in the UK and one or two in japan) I would trust to get this right, but the whole thing is basically academic.

Is this the same Axiom company that produced a 2-way TL with an 8"
filterless woofer and a single-capped 1" dome back in 1979 or so?
What an awsome speaker--but fragile!
