I have a pair of Klipsch type AA networks I'm not using,

i'd like to use them as a very temporary fix for the three way karlson i'm currently playing with...

Can I bypass the transformer for the midrange if i don't need the attenuation? or do i keep the transformer but use different settings?

Can I use the transformer to attenuate the tweeter circuit?

you could use if for just the tweeter, etc. Klipsch systems generally are balanced level wise form the tweeter being daisy chained with the midhorn.

For a "thrown together" crossover for testing purposes you can certainly do both of those things. You can use or not use the auto transformer in whatever way makes your speakers sound the best, and pretty much ignore the inductance of it (again, for testing purposes).

A more typical issue though is that (per my understanding) the Klipsch xovers were designed for somewhat non-typical impedance values of the Kilpsch drivers. Per Bob Crites, Klipsch preferred 4 ohm woofers, 8 ohm mid horns and 16 ohm tweeters, and their xovers were designed with that in mind. I have a pair of Heresys and I do not believe the impedance of the drivers conforms to the above stated values, but Bob Crites...

There are no doubt Klipsch aficionados on the forum who can either support my assertions or mercilessly ridicule them. We shall see. Either way, go ahead and test!
