I drove 10 hours round trip through Germany today and picked up a mint pair of Odeon Rigolettos.

These were the smallest of the fully horn loaded speakers that Odeon made. They consist of a 6 1/2 inch coated paper mid/bass and a horn loaded soft dome tweeter. The mid/bass is back horn loaded and gets surprisingly deep (below 40hz) bass. The overall sensitivity is 93db and an easy 6 ohm load. I had already heard them (a friend has a pair) so I knew what I was buying and now that I have them installed in the downstairs system I am pretty happy with the sound so far.

I have them hooked up to a JJ 322 with my Monarchy DAC to give them a good running in. We watched some blu-ray of Swan Lake (Decca 2007 St. Petersburg Marinsky Theater) and the sound was quite realistic, especially the violins and applause. Low level was still quite resolved.

Of course they are not meant to replace my big Odeons, which continue to impress, but these little guys sound huge and are perfect for my second system I think.
