How does the Edgar show horn compete today?

 Anyone heard the Edgar "Show horn" with EVM 12L woofers?
The claimed performance seems apealing to combine with my 200Hz TT horn in a simple 2-way rigg.

I found the bass response to be very much lacking, so I gave mine away.

 I built a set of dopenburg needles with fe103 original acr fostex. I had them for maybe 15 years and tried them in many many different rooms. Even gave them away once. They got returned. I neally dumped them many times. I spent so much effort ..2 months making them so perfect.. finishing them with 1000 wet and dry inside leaving them for 8 hours then doing it again after they breathed... and then again and then covering them with another 1inch of wood.And then finishing them so beautifully. Anyway after a few years the acr fostex drivers rotten out. So a year ago I bought a used set of plain fe103 for them and tried them another 2 times but then my daughter got a new 65 inch and xbox from santa for her bedroom and needed a system . So I dragged them out one last time into her bedroom and hooked them up a tripath a 192 dac to a set of 600 ohm trans to a preamp and amp. Guess what whammy. The most uncoloured bass and dynamics . I was so amazed I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Just cause on the xbox blowing stuff up never sounded so good.

So I wonder how many really good horn speakers are built tried and trashed when they didn't live up to expectations. So many times these neally got trashed.. If I ever got offered 50$ I would of sold them so quick. They just needed the right room, the right speaker, the right dac and the right trans trimming the low bass and the right amp. something to think about the next time your about to take the saw to your latest horn speakers.

 The "Show horn" is well over 20 years old. Since then Bruce designed horns that utilized the same venerable EVM-12L that were far superior in performance. I think you should contact him directly.

 I didīnt know Bruce where still around, since his website where down?
I have those EMV-12L at my shelf, and since Bruce often used this ones, I figure he knows best how to use it.

 I have the last set of Edgarhorns from the good Dr Edgar - picked up last fall. I'll be picking up the Edgarhorn sub-woofer next. This is a next-generation sub-woofer using a compression driver approach rather than the Show horn design.

Here's a picture of what the set up will look like with the sub-woofer is set up with the Slimline horn systems - this isn't my system, which is has not had a nice finished exterior installed just yet.

I prefer the compression horn designs.

I can report that the good Dr. is well but is more retired than not retired these days.
