I use sand boxes under the folded corner horns of my tri-amplified DIY horn speakers. I also use sand damping in the stands for the midrange and tweeter horns. I am considering building at least one sand box amplifier stand to give it a listen. What I have in mind is a rectangular open topped box of teak veneered marine plywood containing two or three inches of fine white sand. This box will be supported by spikes I will machine from brass or bronze. On top of the sand in the box, and not touching the box, will be a plate, probably constrained layer neoprene between 1/4 inch aluminum and 3/4 inch HDF. The amplifier will sit on that plate. If any members have experience with using a sand box amplifier stand of this sort or suggestions on the idea I would appreciate your comments. I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned. |
