Thought I would share an easy high efficiency speaker project that sounds really good. I used the incredibly smooth sounding Tymphany BC25TG15-04 4 ohm 1" silk dome tweeter with several high efficiency 12" 8 ohm woofers like the Eminence Delta 12LFA, the PRV 12W700, and even the inexpensive 10" MCM 55-2951 with great success. The Zoebel network on the woofer is optional BTW. I suspect you could use the MCM 55-2952, the JBL 2206, or any high effiency (around 95-97db) woofer with good success. The woofer is run full range and is allowed to roll off naturally in a 3-5 cubic foot cabinet. I'm using a 48" tower cabinet of 5 cubic foot with a 4" port, 2.5" long. I just can't say enough about this Typhany tweeter as it is really the star of this project. This world class tweeter is same one used in the Tekton Lore series of speakers to great effect. It is first order crossed over at 3000Hz, and it serves up loads of detail that is very addictive. I have bigger more expensive speakers, but I keep coming back to the clear, natural, open sound that these speakers make.
