Looking to raise the volume a bit. I have a Decware Mini Torii 4 wpc into Ref 3A De Capos. Love the sound, at times want some more volume.

Have been looking at a variety of hi eff speakers. Limited by WAF and space. The Zu's would not take up much more footprint than the de Capos on a stand, look good especially in Walnut.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks

I know and I have thought about moving to the Decware Torii at 25 wpc but the amp is pretty sweet. I know that changing anyone component can change the sound.

Maybe I'll just move closer to the speakers lol

I could never get my Ref 3A De Capos to sing with my Welboune Laurels (300B SETs). Switched to EL34 PP stereo amp (modded ST70) and much better musicality. I cannot image the Zu speakers would better the Ref 3A De Capos, so as CB suggests, feed the Ref 3A De Capos more watts.

I auditioned the Soul Supreme last year in the hope of making a purchase. I walked away empty handed. Coming from a Reference 3a owner, I say keep your de Capos or move up in the line. There is a pair of Veena Bes on Agon right now.

its more about the speaker sensitivity than anything else. The de Capos do sing. And i really don't need it too much louder lol.

Have been looking at the Torii at 25wpc.

Grinnell,
I have my De Capo's paired with a newly build Audio Note Kits Kit 1 300B SET. I find that the amp has plenty of power to drive the De Capo's, although I should note that my listening room's only 11 x 16 x 8 feet and I don't tend to listen terribly loud.
That said, I'll admit that I'm curious to try a more efficient speaker like an Omega or Tekton Lore 2.0 with the Kit 1, just to see what the amp would sound like with an even easier to drive speaker that digs a little deeper than the De Capo.
And yet... I find that the De Capo does a wonderful job of revealing with a SET amp does do well: coherence, tonal purity, holographic imaging and staging.
