These are without a doubt the nicest looking unrestored RCA cabinets I've ever seen! If I had the $$$$ I'd buy these cabinets and the very best pair of RCA, LC-1A, 15", fullrange speakers I could find. Then I would sit back and allow myself to bask in the glorious music this combo would provide.

Though I fully realize we all have different likes & dislikes in audio. For me ---{and I'll wager many more folks here as well}--- these would be viewed as a final, lifetime speaker purchase. You might feel differently, and that's ok, but at the very least, you owe it to yourself to check these beauties out for yourself...

I would save the $$$ and have someone make replicas, and have more $$$ to find those rare RCA's..... Just saying.

I remember someone made some, maybe a year or two ago and they looked pretty good.

I don't think you'd be much money ahead to have replicas made.

The woodwork is difficult and time consuming to duplicate (particularly the louvers). I have rebuilt a pair of these cabinets, so have some experience with them. My project was partially documented on this very forum a while back.

Did you ever finish those cabs yet? I did not see a picture of them painted.

That guy gets a hold of some primo cabinets. I think they make some themselves, but most of the pictures look authentic.

Beautiful.

RCA is the peak of American Industrial art, at least in the electronics field.

Here's the phono that would look quite comfortable next to those speakers.

I agree with you Gil! Besides, I believe the cost differences between having replicas properly made and buying these almost mint cabinets, would be almost nil! So "if" I had the available $$$$$ to purchase these genuine RCA cabinets and a pair of LC-1A drivers. I'd just want to have the genuine cabinets holding the genuine drivers! If one is going to do something, do it RIGHT.

Gil all I can say is WOW! Are those replicas or restored RCA cabinets?

They're restored originals. If you do a search here you should be able to find some 'in progress' pictures I posted a while back.

Reproducing these cabinets accurately would be challenging. The louvers especially would require some custom milling. But if you can find a pair of originals, and the louvers are all that's salvageable, you can repro the rest given enough determination. luckily, the louvers are made of solid stock, and are usually fine. The rest of the cabinets are made from a combination of veneered lumber core and traditional plywood, and they almost always have moisture damage (peeling + separating issues).

Thanks for all the kind words--they really did turn out nicely.

If I had a pair of LC-1A drivers, I'd be very happy to listen to them in plain plywood boxes.

While the cabinets are indeed pretty, they can be easily reproduced at a local cabinet making shop - at a fraction of the asked price.

Not so easy....see my post below. Not impossible, of course, but certainly not cheap to do accurately. I've had these type cabinets apart and put them back together. Not a simple project.
