Karlson K-15 original or modified port?

Hi!
I am building a pair of Karlson K-15 according to the original drawings.
But then I came across this article (se above)
Is this modification (adding some dimension-changes to the port) advisable?

Fred Ireson over at DIY audio is your go to Karlson man. You will likely end up trying both vents and choose the best sounding one. Enjoy. Best regards Moray James.

The fact that Freddyi (I hope that I got his moniker right) hasn't chimed in on this makes me worry about him. I remember that he mentioned some health problems in previous posts. I sure hope he is OK.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.

hey Don - still kinda "around" - I agree with Moray - one can build the port 4.5"x9" then listen to the effects of narrowing with strips

Do you consider the slot wideness to be the critical adjustment or is the shelf wideness also important to try out?
