Hello all,

I'm just getting into fine audio and have been directed (unsurprisingly) towards horns and triodes. I just wanted to know if anyone lived in London (UK) and could either give recommendations to interesting companies, or kindly show their own music set-ups. Going into Richer Sounds a couple of times was fairly discouraging on this front...

It'd be interesting to hear ideas from those further down the line in the hobby before I set off in earnest.

You'll find plenty of your brothers at Diyaudio.com and Pinkfish Media.com

Thanks very much, I'll have to check those out.

Nonetheless I've heard WAY more about products/topographies/solutions etc etc. than actual listening to systems, so if anyone could help me with that side I'd be much obliged.

at Pinkfish Media or Hifiwigwam, someone will likely invite you to a 'bake-off' where you'll get a chance to hear some horn systems.

I'd also recommend reading copies of the old Sound Practices magazine (available on CD) or back issues of the print Positive Feedback or Listener magazine for more insight.

Aside from that, quite a few folk from here are on Facebook and use that as a chat system for talking about vinyl, horns, tubes, etc. Generally friendlier than some many hifi forums.

I've got the Sound Practices cd and have worked through it thanks, I'll have a look for those others too.

Best,

It says he's located in South Bucks (?). Unless the website has changed and it's not Ralph then I'm not sure.

You could have tried to contact Ralph at Artesian Audio in Slough. I met him while I was visiting. He shows things in his home and has access to them as a dealer.

Very nice guy. If this isn't him, let me know and I'll send Ralph an email to this thread.

Thanks very much, that sounds great. I've looked at the website but there doesn't seem to be a contact no. or address, if you could send me his email that'd be great.
