I'm bulilding monoblocs with 0,5W pure class A output. (SEDHT WE104D)
Does it exist speakers they can control down to 50-60 HZ in a small room?
Speakers, NOT headphones.

"Does it exist speakers they can control down to 50-60 HZ" (500mw)

Yes.

"in a small room?"

No.

No.
An incomplete drawing of a horn which need a transducer/driver to work as a loudspeaker. Which? Does the contraption exist, have you made it?

You asked a simple question and you got a simple answer. Sorry for no link. Check out the Super Spiral Bass horn thread. No it hasn't been built, but neither has your 101D power amp. Your parameters of a cutoff 60hz and 110db efficiency are hard to meet. I have other possibilities. You could buy a $10,000US bass compression driver and some J horns.

How about the picture? Are you in Europa? Could you drive a van to Poland, and pick these up? Are these too big for you?

K'horns, in theory but low end limited by the room being too short, likely and, where would you sit.

Keep have jokingly played a set of Lowther, Klipsch Cornwalls and LaScalas and HIIs using a small portable transistor radio with that type of output for a demo I did some years ago and each worked. When I play music, my meters register about .0004 watts with my W70s so, it is possible.

Hi Brian,

I think your suggestion is best. I have never used the K-horn, because I don't have even one good corner. I would have to put wings on the back, and I think that raises the low cutoff. Your power measurement is very interesting! I have used a 750mw Darling 1626 amp on my modified LaScalas, and they played incredibly loud with headroom to spare. The 1626 Darling amp is awful, but that's another subject.

Personaly, I would rather listed to a big mono horn system, than stereo monkey coffins, if that was the choice.

IMO, the best use for flea powered amps is in an active crossover bi-amplified system. Use the flea powered amp to drive a compression drive/horn combo and something else with more power to handle the woofer. Flea powered amps can really shine in this arrangement.

Of course, it's all about compromises. It certainly adds complexity that you may not want.

Thanks to and Brian and Mike,

K’horns didn’t play good in that room, but Klipsch Belle did with original crossovers and self-made 1,7W RE604 SEDHT monoblocs. When I bought them they had ALK crossovers, but never sounded good. If I had known how good the Belle’s is with the original crossovers, I wouldn’t have bought Avantgarde Duo’s.
Never modify a Klipsch Heritage, Paul Wilbur Klipsch knew what he made.
The Avantgarde’s are in fact biamplified as they use integrated active woofers driven by 200W amps. The system sensitivity is 104-110 dB and should be perfect for 1/2W SEDHT’s I hope. I just wondered if there are other suitable speakers. I have wasted too much time in building and modifying speakers, so I want it readymade now.

I'm surprised about your comment on ALK crossovers. They did miracles for my LaScalas. Wich ALk were they? Universal or ExtremeSlope? I've read the ExtremeSlope are betetr for high SPL listening, where the Universals shine at low to moderate output levels.

I've also noted that the "recommended" midrange tap setting on the autoformer isn't the right setting for them to sound best. You need to experiment...

I agree completely with this. SET amps of <2W (45 DHT or less) are best as compression driver amps with line-level crossovers in a multiamping setup. Use a more powerful amp on the woofer, even solid state is OK. I'd try something like a "gain clone" chip amp like from DAL Audio. You could have a real nice speaker using something like the 12" coaxial drivers from B&C, plus some subwoofer support.

If you want something a little more "full range," and off-the-rack, about the best I could suggest is a Lowther-like design such as from Rethm speakers. Even at 100db efficiency, you would only be getting 97db peaks, which is 82db (low) listening level with 15db (minimum acceptable) dynamic headroom. Klipschorns are another option.

Or, you could just make a really nice headphone amp.

I say, check out used Edgarhorns. For the money, one would be hard pressed to find a better speaker.

What are you using to drive the 104D?
