Have a pair of ubangie cabinets in my garage also matching horns. A project for another day. I do enjoy the older Shearer horns not searching for SOTA with these systems I have others for that just fun. If I had more room I would set it all up. I may build another outbuilding but know it would just be filled so have hesitated. Have a good pile of extras I'm going to list on ebay. That might free enough space to set up another system. lol

Hi !! At one point, about 15 years ago, I personally owned 6 Ubangies !! And I am just a single audiophile guy living in an apartment. Walter Clay has four of mine.

Now I am down to A7-800s, and no longer reach for the moon. Am happy. I just try to optimize my SE DC 2A3 amps these days, as amps, I believe, are the weakest link in audio.

RCAs were fun. I grew tired of the RCA field coil drivers ( MI-1428B as I recall ) because they had a slight signature of their own. Had 13 of those RCA F.C. drivers, was a early user, now I have none, sold them off.

Right !!

I think the narrow dimension on my RCA Ubangies was 31 1/2 inches, and we had to ocassionally remove a door's hinge if it protruded.

Good answer on your part !

I prefer the 9448 over the early RCA FC. Enjoy the RCA Radial but the diffusion of the RCA multicells is very pleasant I've had folks in the audio industry non horn guys that were greatly impressed by the sound quality. I do use a modern crossover of very high quality and the t500amk2 tweeters. So kind of a mix of old and new.

Kloss- Thanks for sharing.

A question about the Fostex integration w big theater speakers.

I would think they would be a little beamy in comparison to the enveloping wave of the RCA's.

I know you're an advocate of these tweeters but I am skeptical of their integration w my rig. I am listening to Altec 32 B horns which integrate perfectly w the 15" woofers. But, unfortunately and as you know, there is a roll off around 9k. I suppose I just need to bite the bullet and buy em and try em. Or, even better, what's your tweeter rental policy?

No beaming issues. Large difference in sound quality between fostex at different price points and a t500amk2 would be overkill with the 32b. Not hard to integrate the smaller the horn the easier it becomes. Maybe a Fostex t90a would be a good choice for 32b.A t900a is better with a altec 288 - 515B combo maybe consider a change from the limiting 32b before trying a tweeter? If you're running a model 15 altec or similar you could try a AMT or ribbon if in normal size room..
