Contemplating on getting Shindo WE300B. And also high efficiency speakers to pair with them. Which are the speakers that can be driven sufficiently by them?

Looking at trenner & friedl RA with 95db and 8 ohm, no doubt a superb speaker but can it be driven by the shindo 300B? I need speakers with medium footprint (gigantic horns are out) and easy placement in a medium sized room, and the ability of T&F to be placed close to rear wall is very appealing.

Another option is Devore 0/96, seems to be more easily driven on paper with 10ohm impedance, but being rear ported, placement could be fussy. Sonic wise how do they compare to RA? Any other options I should be looking at?

Those are Shindo's top-level amps. Pretty much the only speakers I would consider for those are Shindo speakers or A23 speakers. Those are the only two that have been specifically designed and tuned for Shindo gear.

Devore O/96's are nice, and pair beautifully with something like the Masseto/Cortese, but they are not up to par to those amps. The system needs to make sense in totality.

Other vintage speakers from Altec and WE could work, too, but you'll have to invest some time in "optimizing" the setup. This is part of what Shindo himself does, updating and improving some of these old classics.

You should also consider that your room and associated equipment will have a major impact on whether these components can perform at their best. Few things are quite as sad as someone splurging on all this pricey gear and then having it perform at 50% of what it can do. I've heard Monbrison/Cortese setups that sound better than Giscours/300b Ltds.

And please remember that pretty much all of Shindo's gear is unique and wonderful in its own right. Don't be fooled by sticker price. I'm convinced the 6v6 Montille is one of the most amazing values in audio. If you're new to Shindo, consider starting with something more "humble", and then enjoy the ride as you explore his other offerings.

Hope that helps.

Any PHY-hp based speaker like A23, top range Fostex like f208es plus twtr or more expensive Voxativ kind or others of the kind that not know or remember. Whizzer cones are funny sounding but are not as real as normal cone with twtr Dont like lowthers.

Hi YNH,

What you said makes a lot of sense. Since you mentioned A23, which models do you refer to? The solovox uses 8" phy drivers, do you think phy driver speakers will mate well. I have no chance to audition A23, but I have heard ocellia which also use Phy drivers which I like. Do you think that will work?

Another option would be to go for cortese, which might seem an easier pairing for speakers?
