Chandos in January will release Symphony #9 with Job, Bergen Philharmonic and Andrew Davis conducting. He is slated to conduct the 7th Symphony early this year, so I assume that will complete the cycle. Something I've been waiting for for many years now.

The sound on the LSO Chandos recordings with Hickox wasn't so great (in fact, the Sea Symphony recording that he did earlier was a better performance--except for the baritone--and had much better sound).

But the other Hickox performances are really good, and I won't listen to any version of #2 except the Hickox, because it's the original edition and includes some wonderful material in the last movement that unfortunately got chopped from the revision.

No doubt that Chandos SQ has improved since the original Hickox recordings. I wouldn't mind if Davis recorded an entire RVW cycle on SACD. But that, or any other SACD RVW cycle is unlikely, so I am very happy with this.
