I listened to a couple of Modern Jazz Quartet tracks at the local shop going through Bluesound system.

I was favorably impressed - even on a humble system you got the crispness and natural sound of percussion that I love with Hi Rez and when you get Vinyl dialed in.

Seems like a promising trechnology - since I like streaming, if MQA becomes a dominant streamed technology, then we probably have something that is a good new source for critical listening.

Where did you find MQA encoded Modern Jazz Quartet files?

The shop had them on a playlist in their Bluesound Vault. I don't know how they got them.

I am a customer, not affiliated. I wonder if any more bricks and mortar stores will have it? My guess it was marketing materials for Bluesound?

I have checked all of the listed MQA partners for repertoire and cannot find any mention of MJQ tracks. Perhaps what you heard was ,indeed, special tracks prepared for Bluesound marketing.

Of course the Bluesound Vault can contain many types of file types. How did you ascertain that the MQA tracks were definitely MQA and not just some good sounding files of some other origin?

NB: AS MQA is only for the distribution of music by download or streaming it is unlikely that B&M stores would "have it" in the same sense that they would have a CD.

The guys at the shop demoed it for me told me that had a MQA playlist, and that was one of the tracks (From Blues on Bach). Was about a dozen songs on that list. I neglected to ask where they got them from.

Agreed. I wasn't as specific as I shoul dhave been.

This Bricks and Mortar store isn't a music store, but a Home theater, Stereo and home automation store. Even if (somehow) it was on a CD, they wouldn't carry it.

But I do beleive they had a playlist for demo purposes.

But I do believe they had a playlist for demo purposes. We got to listen to it. If you want to hear the MQA in action rather than read about it, your local place that stocks Bluesound might have it, too.

It is interesting that hires download sites have started to have MQA editions of the same albums with also FLAC 95 etc and the price is a few dollars higher than the FLAC - I thought the value of MQA is that hires could be put in a smaller package for downloading or streaming - but that the quality is the same between FLAC 95 and MQA.
