I have been loking into this ad (afetr searching on eBay found the Fiio x3 2nd gen. It looks very nice and the specs look amazing (192/24 Flac capability)
The review on headphone guru points put some problems though- eg, it has ridiculously high output which would cause some stereos to clip (dont want to blow my esl's)
has anyone tried it?

I have an older version of the x3, and there is a gain switch setting for high and low which should solve that problem. Also, there is a max volume setting and a default volume setting.

I have the Fiio X3 II, nice unit. Sound is rich, but I would not say it is the most detailed player availble. You would have to spend a lot more for a bit more detail. It drives all of my headphones and iem phones very well. It can use a Sandisk 200gb micro sd card, so you can pack a lot of Flac files on it. It decouples dsd also. I think it is worth getting.
