Had a quick glance here: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/emanual/HAP-S1/HG/EN/contents/TP0000221988.html Look like they extrapolate from 16 to 24 bits (fine sound) and higher frequencies that might be lost due to roll of (MP3) and/or 1/2 fs (Nyquist). So some kind of DSP that won't affect your source nor does it say anything about deficiencies in the download. The Well Tempered Computer |
