I'm filling out my collection with some obvious choices - the rest of the LSO Sibelius series and Mahler's 8th (SFSO) - and was wondering what else was out there.

Only heard a couple and not at high rez but just 16/44.1 streaming but what I heard was good.

The Caro Mitis Telemann discs by Pratum Integrum are great fun, lovely recordings and will refresh you after all that heavy romantic stuff.

The Avison Ensemble Corelli Concerti Grossi Op.6 on Linn are small scaled but supremely elegant performances with impeccable recording quality. I also recommend their Handel Op.6 Concerti Grossi (performed without the optional woodwind parts).

Moving to post-Classical you may have fun with the Berlioz Overtures recording by Sir Andrew Davis and the Bergen Philharmonic on Chandos. A good test of how good your SACD player is BTW. If it sounds state of the art (it should) then you have a great player, if not....

The Shostakovich symphonies on BIS, conducted by Wigglesworth
The two Pittsburgh Symphony recordings on Reference conducted by Honeck
Honeck's Mahler 3 and Mahler 4 on Exton (2.0, not surround)
Beethoven Strinq Quartets (Tokyo Qt on Harmonia Mundi)

Way, way too many to list. Tip: go to www.sa-cd.net, register or log in, select Reviews, choose SACD format and Classical genre and about the best reviews you can find anywhere will be presented in newest first order. You can place those of interest on your Wish List there in seconds for later follow up.

I have found this useful in building my own library, although not all the really good ones have been reviewed. I also find other sites like Classics Today and Audiophile Audition unreliable and therefore useless.

sa-cd.net is useful, but I already have a large collection and was looking for some idiosyncratic responses.

I just don't get Bruckner. I have the Kreizburg 7th on Pentatone and the sound is great.

with the San Francisco Symphony a couple times and that's a good place to start.

Agree that Bruckner can be a hard musical lesson but it help to have a master like Blomstedt do the introduction.

And they are now all available (as is the whole Caro Mitis catalog) on primephonic.com as download files. In DSD as well as flac 88.2k 24bit, stereo and surround.

Had not heard of this site before. Just took a look, and it looks promising. Is it operated by an arm of Polyhymnia?

We are taking care of the file production and check the specified sampling rate of the uploaded recordings. And we do customer support regarding technical issues with the files. The site will continue to expand and it is looking to become an important focus point for high quality, high res CLASSICAL music.
I am a big fan of SA-CD as physical medium, but the newer possibilities of distribution (the older are less and less efficient) is giving the consumer the option to buy high resolution music, from almost anywhere, and provides a way for small labels like Caro Mitis to reach out to these consumers, being available with their catalog to them in DSD as well as Flac High res PCM. For our part of the recording industry to be able to survive this alternative way of distribution will have to work.

I assume you play this in stereo? I have many discs that sound better in multichannel: in fact the 5.1 sounds like "stereo 5.1". Then again, I make no claims to having a SOTA system.
