It'a headphone dac, but has Line-out.
I'm thinking of getting it for Audiogate 3.

I read several great reviews, when coupled with AG 3.
Some headphones avialable for it too.

With AG 3 it will function like S1/Z1, posted on September 13, 2014 at 11:25:59

Amazon was cheapest by far.

That unit is on my list as I use the software in my daily job as an engineer. More and more it seems that people are doing the conversion from/to dsd in the computer. What computer will you be using?

I just have a 10 year old iMac, 4GB Ram.
I've use Audiogate ( The Free twitter Version ) for years, but the new version has improvements, and
is only available with the new Korg Products.
The Unit has Line-out, both bal and unbal, so I'm going to try it that way,
and of course, heradphones too. They have have some new phones, like Sony and Oppo.
Hope the Learning-Curve isn't too painfull!

I'm betting you use Windows, but do you have any Mac recommendation?

I only use Mac's. Usually I record in high rate PCM 24 bit -192 and convert it to 24 bit 48 K for use in my video editing system. However, the SACD (or DSD) I've recorded with the Korg MR 2 portable has been very good. Might be time for a new Mac, however. I plan to buy a Korg Dac and use it with a new Mac Pro laptop to stream some files. I looked at the Amazon listing and they said "from Japan" which made me cautious as it might be in a different voltage than the US. Let me know if I am wrong.

I will.
I got my Sony PCM D100 DSD Recorder
from Hong Kong, before it was released in USA.
The DC Adaptor works here, and they included one for 220V.
( I use batteries, and they last a surprisingly long time )
The Korg takes an IEC Cord, so I hope it doesn't explode!
It was $150 more than Amazon at the Korg Website.

That's Power Cord, not Persoanal Computer! I haven't even unpacked it yet, finishing a couple of things with Audiogate 2, will get to it this week.

the Teac UD-501 and thought it is a wonderful sounding DAC, especially with DSD files. The Korg is cheaper and I'm wondering if it will compete favorably with the Teac.

I got mine, will try it out next week.
Isn't the Teac also an Int Amp?
The Korg is intended for Headphones,
but has Line-Out, which I'm most interested in.
I don't see how some thing so small and light could have much
of an Analog Output Section.
I really wanted the Audiogate 3 Software, and you have to buy something from them to get it.
I'll report as soon as I can!

No, the UD-501 is a dual-mono USB DAC, which also has a headphone amp/output. You're thinking of the AI-501DA, which is another component in Teac's "Reference Series."

What's special about the Audiogate 3 software? I'm using JRiver 19 and the player works well with both hi-res PCM and DSD files. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your impressions of the sound with the Korg. Thanks.

Hi, I've been using AG 2, the Twitter Version,
to edit and burn DSD Discs of Live recordings I make, and play them on a Sony 5400.
First I used the Zoom H4N, in 24/92, and now a Sony PCM D100 DSD Recorder, in DSD Mode.
AG 3 is supposed to be optimized for the new Korg Products, will playback any File in 2xDSD, and I want to see what it can do with my own Files.
I also burn HiRez Downloads, both 24 whatever and DSD Downloads to DSD Disc. And a few CDs, just for the hell of it. I always like them better in DSD, so far.
Now I can try Computer Playback.
The DSDAC100 was only $445 on Amazon.
It's mainly for my TV System. on line-out . The Computer is nearby, as it's USB Powered. I was thinking of the Sony S1, but with the Korg, I'm setting my sights on a Tube Int Amp without onboard DAC.
There's Software to Download and Drivers, not my favorite part of Computers, in order to use the Korg. Just haven't had time to get into it yet!
I'll post my impressions when they're sorted out.
