I'm on their email list and just got another email with some wonderful music.

First up is a 24/96 'Mozart arrangements of Bach' for only $9.22. Also on special is a Sibelius Lemminkäinen suite, 24/44 for only $10.44. I'm a huge Sibelius fan, this is a favorite of mine, right up there with the symphony no. 2.

These are great music, recordings, and dirt cheap. You can hear samples at their webpage.

If you have any interest in classical music at all eclassical.com is well worth checking out.

But interesting that the picture on the eClassical.com site would indicate that it's also been issued on SACD?

Can't find it on Amazon so I guess we wait and see.

Listening to it now on QOBUZ and it's luscious as one would expect from BIS and Vanska.

 In the eClassical e-mail, BIS Boss Robert von Bahr indicates that these are new recordings. Vanska's earlier 'Lemminkainen' was done in 1999 (and presumably is the one included in the box set you mentioned) while this new one was done in 2006/2007. (Why BIS waited until now to release it, I have no idea.) 'The Wood-Nymph' is also newly recorded.

However this is a quote from the last page of the SACD booklet:

"The Swan of Tuonela, Lemminkäinen’s Return and Skogsrået were previously
released on BIS-1645 SACD and have been remastered for the present release."

Along with this:

So this will soon be sold as an SACD whose 'Original format' was 24-bit / 44.1 kHz?

Likely a good sounding one, at that!

 It won't be first SACD released by BIS that was originally recorded at 24/44.1 (but we've been through all of that already).

Interesting about the 'remastering' done for those other pieces. I've got the download of BIS 1645 and I see that the 'Wood-Nymph' (Skogsraet) on that release is shorter by 16 seconds than the remastered one. Also the 'Swan of Tuonela' is longer by 11 seconds than the remastered one, while 'Lemminkainen's Return' is shorter by 7 seconds. I guess *something* was done to those recordings, but it's odd that the timings would change by that much.

 My experience with DSD Discs is that Everything ( Digital ) sounds better presented in DSD Format.
I know others disagree…
