Anyone listened to the Mobile Fidelity SACD Dire Straits Brothers in Arms?

I'm hesitant because the SHM-CD was VERY much better than the 20th Anniverary SACD and any CD versions I heard. For once, instruments sounded relatively real, not the caricatures of previous releases. Until the SHM-CD, I had simply accepted the artificial tonality and edginess as a given. Not so, apparently.

But if the SHM folks had some way to fix that, then possibly MSFL does not. Unfortunately, the SHM-SACD was canceled in 2012, perhaps because there was no way to make it better than the CD version.

I haven't heard it but reports on the Steve Hoffman forum are encouraging.

It's only preliminary, but the signs are encouraging that this new mofi could be every bit as good as the original, silver rim, Made In W. Germany (not the Made In W. Germany by Polygram) edition.

I could be wrong - but this rare MIG disc seem to have a little more "flow".....

I'll leave both sitting on the shakti stone for 48 hours before comparing again.

I'm comparing the silver sticker Vertigo LP against the 2-disc, Stan Ricker Remastered at the same time

First, let it noted I'm an old man. I distinctly remember the debut of that Brothers in Arm LP. It was advertised as the first rock album to fully recorded in 16/44.1 fidelity. If true, then SACD issues and LP issues will all bear the mark of that resolution.

IIRC, too the initial CD offering was inverted in polarity.

From this label, you don't get to use the real masters....

@jeromelang, I am not sure where you get this information, but that is incorrect, Sir. Why don't you contact me, and we'll get you squared away, brother.

Thanks for supporting Mobile Fidelity and fighting the good fight against compression.
