Last week I acquired the new Banzai Republic release titled "Where The Fun Starts Early In The Day" on the Music For Dreams label and I have to say that if you are a fan of the downtempo genre, you must check this out. I've been listening to this everyday and it shares top honors with "Voices From The Dust Bowl" by Fragile State as my two new favorites. Based in Denmark, Banzai Republic has been known primarily as remixers. Where The Fun Starts is their first full length release. There are some interesting blues, jazz and dub influences with vocal samples of Bukka White, Lightning Hopkins, Al Jarreau, and Mahalia Jackson with guest appearances by Natacha Atlas and jazz trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg.
