Since there isn't a lot going on here, I thought I'd take it upon myself to make some music suggesions/referrals. In the genre of what my friends call "trip-hop", get anything by two guys named Kruder and Dorfmeister, particularly a double disk titled "the K&D sessions" or anothersingle disk in the "DJ Kicks" series. Great (!) sound quality, lots of samples, very relaxing, I'd call the majority of it "downtempo", but there are a few remixed hip hop tracks as well.... A personal favorite is "Bug Powder Dust"

Let me know what you all think!

I agree. While I don't have 'The K&D Sessions', I have heard it and will eventually get around to purchasing it. Have you ever heard Charles Webster? He has a CD out titled "Born on the 24th of July" that is very good. I think it would probably be considered trip hop. The sound quality is pretty good. I had to really shop around to find a copy of this but it's well worth it when you find it.

Heard him at my friend's house....I'll get a copy and report back! ;-)

Get the K&D sessions; you won't be disappointed.

This is a great song, multi-dimensional wordplay, full of strange references...certainly indicates there can be more to rap than what a lot of people seem to think...I dug up a webpage that digs a little into this song.

All I've seen is a remix album of Born on the 24th called Remixed on the 24th of July. See link below...

Never found a taste for their music as a whole, although I like Kruder's "Double Drums" on his Peace Orchestra project. More like the spy cinema type of downtempo.

This is my favourite record in the genre & I would love to know if there is anything out there that comes near it.

Those two K&D are my two favs as well........, posted on July 20, 2004 at 09:43:07

Check out Thievery Corporation, Peace Orchestra and Tosca. My favorite Tosca is Suzuki.

Anyone know about the new K&D that's supposedly in the works?

Cheers,

Check out Thievery Corporation: "Mirror Conspiracy," "DJ Kicks," "Richest Man in Babylon" and also "Sounds from the Thievery HiFi."

Also check out Fragile State: "the facts and the Dreams," Caia, - "the Magic Dragon." Tosca, - "Suzuki" Lemon Jelly, - "Lost Horizons."
