vintage equipment, get a learning remote to save yourself a loss, here's what I recommend

I recommend Chunghop remotes, listen to me, I saw my remotes destroyed and almost deemed useless from constant use. In this case I had a Bel Canto UFO style remote, I emailed Bel Canto, they didn't have the UFO remote, next was an ask for someone to sell me an extra one they have, no luck. Luckily I had been able to transfer the IR codes to a Chunghop remote and the great thing about these remotes once you program them they remember even with the battery taken out and another one put in. Just IMHO backup your cherished remotes with something like this.

That company makes also remotes with more buttons, very affordable investment in your old remotes and what not.

The last thing is your remote dies, batteries blow up like message from before, etc..

Do yourself a favor.,.,

Good week to ya!

For the price how can you go wrong? I'll give it a try.

I ordered one under Amazon Prime and another one in Yellow which I think is the same thing under a different brand name. The one in Yellow may get here someday. ;-) The one via Amazon Prime will be here next week.

Thanks!

cool, chunghop like I said makes others with more buttons as well should you need them.

LOL! Why am I thinking about food?

I was thinking the same thing. We had Chinese delivery Friday night. Yum.

Do you program Chunghop by pointing your existing remote at it while it learns the codes transmitted over IR ??

yes, you program by pointing the other remote into the chunghop remote, it learns the exact codes that way, very cool, easy to use and affordable as well.

Thanks for posting. That's the second goodie you posted about that I ended up getting. The other one was an outlet by TP-Link that I control with the Amazon Echo. "Alexa, turn ON tree lights" ;-)

Hey Bullet what model are you using? I seem to find nothing but large Chunghop TV remotes with many, many buttons. I just cannot find the one you are using...

I'm listening to: Trust by Graus & Bronzwaer

Just what I need for my Cary SLP-05 preamp. Just on/off, volume and mute.

Thanks, man!

Did you find the one bullethead is talking about. The link he provided at the bottom of his post should take you there.

Great idea. Ordered and waiting.

Having two remotes in every room is a must w 3 kids... who are constantly carrying off remotes to who knows where in the house.

Looks good for equipment with simple remote demands - and cheap

I found that my preamp remote can learn from other remotes, so for example I can use it to control the TV or just about any other equipment - even from other manufacturers. It's the remote that comes with NAD Master Series - in my case the M12 preamp/DAC/streamer - and very good it is too - both the preamp and the remote!

So you guys don't own smart phones? If you use an Android phone, you can get Sure Universal Remote.
I downloaded this app a couple of weeks ago and put my vintage Meitner preamp, Oppo disc player and Tascam CD burner from my main system on it. The Vizio TV, Sony Bluray player, Cisco cable box and Pioneer HT receiver for the den are on it as well now. On both systems I can control input selection, volume, balance and muting. On the TV I can even use it to select choices on Netflix. I use an LG phone and it works perfectly.

Modern technology can sometimes make your life simpler and less cluttered.
Oh yeah, it's free, so it's probably not good enough.

Also, you don't need the codes, just the manufacturer's name. nt, posted on December 7, 2016 at 16:34:16
