I have been trying to respond to the message below on Vinyl Asylum. Each time I have posted my response I get the usual thnks for your posting message but nothing appears on the forum. I have tried 4 times, signing out and returning before the last attempt.

The first attempt did post but appeared in the wrong place in the thread so I deleted it. The problem has occured with all attempts at re-posting.

That's strange. I just tried a test post and it went fine, so I deleted it.

Other than gremlins, my only guess is that the post may have gotten caught up with our duplicate post detection. We cache a certain number of posts and compare them against new posts. If they're identical, then it looks like it went through, but it doesn't. We added this because fairly often, people don't have they browsers set to always check for new pages. When they don't see their post, they post the same thing again.

Since you deleted the first, the second attempt may have gotten snagged by the dup routine if you did it fairly soon afterward. Multiple attempts would likewise get caught for a period of time until that post gets flushed from that cache.

Give it another shot and it should work or let me know otherwise.

Thanks Rod. Yes the attempted postings were in close proximity and I guess that the duplicate detection caught them.

I have now succesfully posted my response on VA.

If I see a mistake in a post I often opt to delete and re-enter rather than edit.

During re-entry you can just type the first few letters of your subject to get a drop down that allows you to select your [deleted] subject text ... for the body I have that in the scrap buffer to paste back ... then fix up and Submit again.

However if you do the same thing too many times in a row all will appear to be fine but at some point the "new" post just won't appear.

I suspect making a slight change to the subject content on a retry would prevent this, however the problem often goes unnoticed til no longer have a copy of the body and then I just give up in disgust (at myself LOL).
