Sweeping through Floyd albums. At "Empty Spaces" right now.
Concept albums, what a concept. Does anyone still do it?

Earlier today, I met up with my old friend, ACS. Since this is the audiophile side, I'll make that connection shortly. But first...

...for me and my friends, Testament's "Electric Crown" was a staple, during the summer of 1992. One Saturday, I was to take BART from San Francisco to downtown Berkeley, and meet ACS. She was entering her sophomore year at Cal, and had recently gotten an off-campus apartment.

Having armed myself with a few CDs, ACS and I were going to hit a few of the audio stores in Berkeley/Oakland. I have no idea what the store was called, but its system ending with the Epos ES11 was the most fun, when playing Testament's "Electric Crown." ACS thought it was more "enthusiastic," not as "muddy and boring" as other systems.

Funny thing was, there was this middle-aged couple, who were more seriously checking out the ES11. The wife really liked the four-post, open-framed stand. She thought it'd look great, holding up one of her potted plants.

I no longer have that original 1992 CD, which ACS and I used to audition gear at those Berkeley/Oakland audio stores. I now have Testament's The Ritual on SHM-CD, which is a small improvement over the original.

While the audiophiles don't seem to be latching on to the excellent, almost textbook thrash example, "Electric Crown," today's children know about, like, and play/perform (on account of video games) it.

I just had to bump this thread when I think of all the hours I have spent listening to "The Pink Floyd".

...And how many more there will be till I croak. I find myself in the mood for Floyd quite regularly.

See ya. Dave
