I watched the program and when she sang my heart went into overdrive. It was a priceless moment. I had her voice in my head for days afterwards.

I think there is a lot of talent out there and a lot of people with talent are stuck in various jobs or careers who don't know how good they are and shows like this are kind of their "shot in the dark" avenues. Shows like these take criticism but in a very real way they sort of serve to find talent that perhaps slip through the cracks of the mainstream music industry. She should have a nice future - but Opera is one of those things where people are picky and it's a who you know kind of thing (Ahem Sarah Brightman).

I recently heard this Pizza delivery guy try out and I was quite impressed and in his own way just as likeable as this girl. Opera and Sinatra on mainstream TV - That ain't bad.

In her case tho,she has pipes at 13yo to where she could sing almost any type of music..Opera is unquestionably the most difficult to muster and I'm not even a fan of opera but the strength of her voice is unreal.

Some thoughts: would even a moderately trained opera student require a microphone?
"Nessun dorma"? Rather than the tenor Calaf, why not the soprano Salome? I'd love to watch her audience as she tore through "Ah, Du wolltest mich deinen Mund nicht küssen lassen, Jochanaan".

Usually I don't recommend quitting your day job, but if she had one she should!

Incredible, heartfelt rendition.

Hope her future is filled with the joy and humanity she brings to so many with that performance.

I have a coworker who's son is a world-champion pianist; literally winning contests world-wide since the age of 7. It's amazing to see him play, and draws feelings of admiration.

But that admiration soon turns to sympathy when you learn that the kids have few friends and play no sports due to their rigorous practice schedule. And when you learn this is all because the parents do not save for retirement, expecting their child to support them the hair on your neck stands up.

Gives child prodigies a whole new perspective...

I didn't know Bernie Sanders had a ticket that concert., posted on June 21, 2016 at 21:37:17

The thing is, the child prodigy thing is fleeting. Once they turn 17-18, they are just excellent musicians, which is admirable, but normal.

Remember that kid that was a whiz at the drums 10 years ago at the beginning of the youtube era? He's now a studio musician. Nice, but nothing to ohh and ahh about.

Very few of these kids become Yoyo Ma.
