I'll be on the road for quite a few months, and can only carry a small number of cd's with me. I was wondering if there is a good way to connect all those great youtube audio selections to my Stax amp. I'd hope it would sound as good as a decent cd player.
Thanks.

We would need to know which Stax amp and what device will provide the youtube content. Its likely just going to be some cables. With youtube for the best sound select at least 480p.

You need: A Device (PC, Mac, or portable player) to play the digital files and to generate a digital signal, preferably through USB port, with an USB cable to a small USB Dac that has an RCA out to connect to your amp with IC cable.

No offense but he may well have a laptop and stay in the analog realm connecting from line out to the amp. We cant guess, he has to tell us what he has and then we can recommend.

But unless the technology has gotten better, it doesn't sound that good, does it? (I also edited my post in case there was any confusion).

Yes... it's an old laptop, Dell, and sounds halfway decent going from the headphone output into the inputs of the Stax amplifier. But it certainly doesn't sound as good as a fairly inexpensive Sony CD player as the source.

Thatsbecause most of the time Youtube doesnt sound that good. Do you know how to adjust the sound quality on you tube? With a good recording and the quality at its highest its not bad.

Yes 480 when available is the best the audio will get. Video can get better 720 and so on but it takes a lot more bandwidth.

Well, I'm listening to youtube via my stax set up connected directly to computer through headphone jack. 1/8 inch plug on computer end, 2 RCA's on the amp end. It's definitely not as good as a cd player, but quite listenable, the Stax sound good, and opens up unending musical possibilities.
