 I have used Discog for buying vinyl for years and just started using it for selling records. Impressions: works fine if release is in data base but a real pain when try to add release to same. Very labor intensive and software frequently confusing. "'Moderators" come off as hypercritical IMO. Still a valuable resource for buying and selling. Others opinions?

 I tried to enter an album not in their DB and gave up after 5 minutes. Not sure why every song from the album had to be entered? Kudos tho, to the thousands of "members" who've had the patience to enter the data for the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of albums in their DB.

 I bought a rare Joni Mitchell cd on there without any issues. I don't think i'd choose to sell music on there unless it was particularly rare/collectible.

 It really isn't all that labor intensive if you only want to put in the information required. If you want to put in everything related to a particular release, then yes, it can be very labor intensive, especially for box sets. However, certain minimum data are needed to ensure that someone else who is trying to determine if the release you have put in is the same as the one they are holding in their hand.

I admit it gets daunting at times and I've taken a break for a while. I'm the type of person who puts in every detail I can find for each release so it can take as much as three hours.

 It seems interesting for sure, what is/are the interface(s) for buying
items? Is it easier than Amazon or eBay?

 Agreed, very painful. Why do they not have a method to *copy* a similar release and edit it for the new version?

There must be tons of stuff missing from their DB, based on the stuff missing even from the relatively meager collection I have. Making it difficult doesn't service their members who care more than I do.

 There is a way to copy from the first of a given album and adjust the information according to what you hold in your hand. However, sometimes you might be the first one to put in any particular album. I get the impression discogs has somewhere around 15% of all albums/records ever released for commercial consumption. It's going to take a while but it's interesting nonetheless.

 I think it's a handy resource.

I haven't yet sold anything on Discogs, but have bought a few with mixed results. Often I see some great rarer finds with more reasonable prices than elsewhere (picked up vinyls of Chet Baker, "If I Had Wings" and Allegri "Miserie" at very good prices for instance).

OTOH, some of the sellers don't seem to be very well educated in vinyl grading, some of my purchases have been clearly over-graded. YMMV.
