My four year-old OPPO 95 recently had problems loading discs and needed service. This company has setup procedures to make it nearly painless to repair out of warranty components. My first email to them detailing the problem was answered in just a few hours. They provided a link to their on-line store to buy an extended service plan for all repairs for only $99 including return shipping. They got it late last Wednesday and fixed, cleaned, installed the latest firmware, tested and shipped it back to me the next day. It plays as well as new and there was no hassle whatsoever. A real class act, IMHO.

My interactions with them have been nothing but first rate. Their customer service section has even responded, the same day, to a Sunday e-mail. I've owned both the 95 and 105D and find them to punch way above their price class.

I've been enjoying my BDP-95 for years with no issues. But, nothing lasts forever and it's good to hear they are standing behind their products.
enjoy,

My 83SE started having transport, then reading of disc problems. I called them, for $79, including return shipping, they will repair anything needed, update firmware, and clean the unit.

The day they received it [Monday], I got an email saying they had it on the bench, and would update me with a tracking number when shipped. A day later [Tuesday], it was on its way back.
I will receive it tomorrow [Saturday], back in Wisconsin, from California.

Excellent Service!

Just took delivery on a hand-me-down HA-1 DAC/Headphone amp(in germ-free condition).

Loving it so far and it's good to hear that OPPO backs up their products.

could certainly use an addendum (... except OPPO!) perhaps?

Mark111, mine should have gone longer before failure but I can't blame OPPO for problem. I had problems trying to use the little Herbie's CD damper with the OPPO, although it worked ok everywhere else I tried it. Some discs, especially SACDs wouldn't load properly or could not find their directories if it was not flattened down completely on the disc. It eventually got lost inside the machine and I suspect this had something to do with the unit failure. No biggie for OPPO, though. They even returned the damper to me with no scolding!

Good hear that they back their products with excellent service.

Based on my favorable experience with the Oppo HA-1 DAC/Head amp, I'm tempted to get one of their Blu-ray players for the family room.

I've had great service from Oppo as well.

That said, I'd suggest buying a new Oppo player for analog music playback more than digital video for movies. I don't see any difference in video between my Oppo, Sony, and Panasonic bluray players via bitstream.

See ya. Dave

The OPPO website STORE page offers repair warranties for their current models. I couldn't find one for my BD-95 there, but they replied to my email with a link to the right page. I suspect you may need to email them too, for your 93. After you get the link, you 'buy' it like any other online purchse after adding it to your cart. They will then send you the address and RA number. The return shipping was included in the price.

at San Francisco Airport next week. As they are located just a few miles down the road they usually have a pretty full compliment of people at the show and it will be a good opportunity to hear their future plans in the area of audio vs. video, where they first made their mark.

Here is the OPPO link to buy out of warranty repair for the BD93: http://www.oppodigital.com/proddetail.asp?prod=RSBDP93

There is no place on the form for the unit serial # except the comments field.

Good luck with it.

I have a BD-103 that initially connected to my network perfectly for accessing Netflix and my music server.

Shortly after, I could access neither. I contacted their tech support and we worked through the process via email. Admittedly, they thought the issue was my network all along, but I proved that the Wi-Fi USB dongle itself was the villain.

After about ten emails substantiating my suspicion, they sent me a new USB dongle. Everything worked immediately with the new device.

Hmm, good point since watching movies will be the priority for a player in our family room. Most mass market consumer Blu-ray players are cheap and pretty much 'disposable' when they break.

Here's my rave about Oppo Service. 10 yr old 971hd with tray problems. An email sent on a Saturday was answered on Sunday that I can ship it to them ($16 Fed-ex) and if major parts aren't needed it will be fixed for free and shipped back free. Just got it back and this is one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had.

I have a 981 that stopped working $49 later good as new. They are great.
