"In section 4(a), Spotify agrees to pay a $25 million advance for the two years of the contract: $9 million the first year and $16 million the second, with a $17.5 million advance for the optional third year to Sony Music."

"But what the contract doesn't stipulate is what Sony Music can and will do with the advance money. Does it go into a pot to be divided between Sony Music's artists, or does the label keep it to itself? According to a music industry source, labels routinely keep advances for themselves."

Meanwhile, there is a lot of great music out there denied to millions of listeners due to "copyright" restrictions..... And a lot of these artists will ultimately hang it up sooner rather than later because their music, albeit good, remains totally unknown.

A recent Meridian ad in TAS claims,

"The sound of the studio. Guaranteed."

Wow! The impossible has finally been achieved (again). The counterfeit is now equal to the original (again).

And as usual with such lofty claims, other equipment apparently doesn't matter, nor do any of the distortions that plague every last playback system.

I'm starting to think the only thing high-end in "high-end" audio is the hype.

I wonder what the guarantee is?

But they didn't say it would last forever, as in "Perfect Sound Forever"..., posted on May 21, 2015 at 05:27:44

Conductor Herbert von Karajan was right.

I make music because it's my intrinsic ability; not because I have little to no ability to monetize it in today's market.
