I just sold a $700 pair of speakers in a week. Not bad at all. I used to never have any luck on the Trader at all.

I think it will be my first shot from now on.

Several times I've bought and sold. Easy, you can check the buyers/sellers out and make contact very easily.

My only gripe is that people don't take down their ads after they sell the item. I assume that's because it's free to use or whatever, maybe there's a longer time before the ad expires, IDK.

I easily sold an amp last year for $21550, posted on April 21, 2015 at 18:31:30
Only took a few days, no problems. Got my asking price without any screwing around. There are serious buyers out there.

I'll never use Audiogon again after they screwed me out of $102, which was the balance I had on my account. Be warned that a member of their support team by the name of Tammy doesn't know the difference between a bill payment and a refund. There is no credit or refund in my account history yet Tammy says the money was refunded to me. Don't leave any money on your Audiogon account or you may lose it.

In any event, I have a few more items to sell that I plan to post here on the Asylum trader. Thanks Rod.

The IRS has taken note of your post.

A string of one; must be the Asylum that's picking up., posted on April 21, 2015 at 21:45:46
It's always worked for me. Maybe you were priced too high in the past, or had the wrong gear, or the moon was full. But ya, you sold one piece of gear it must be picking up.

Had some good buying and selling-- the site could do with some fine tuning

maybe a button to alert Mods sold/etc and they can remove the listing

This may start a war but say Contributors post free

"Non Kool Aiders" say $10 per posting?

Meth tweakers? Because that's what you would half to be to buy you're "products".

Selling at the right time is extremely important. I think that right about now is when people are busy actuating their dreams for 2015. It's a few months past Xmas so people feel like they have recovered a bit, financially. The sunshine is coming back, so it's out with the old and in with the new. Ideas like "spring cleanup" also come to the fore...

Xmas time and late spring - good times for selling.

Although there are certainly good sellers here - I have found way too many shady sellers here that I do not experience on Audiogon. Do you guys think $2 per ad will weed them out and improve the Asylum Trader?

How would you identify the "shady sellers" here?, posted on April 22, 2015 at 08:53:43
Do you use your gut instincts, or do you rely on verifiable things like feedback ratings (or lack thereof)?

I think it's just good business practice to charge for services no matter how nominal. When you charge a few dollars you are requiring people to identify themselves via credit card charge. That's a good thing.

But I look at what the buyer/seller has done in the asylum. You can tell a lot by posts - How long he's been posting, tone, context. Then you get on the phone with the guy and talk about the deal.

But - It does seem that there have been some questionable ads, most likely because it is free to use.

I probably wouldn't..., posted on April 22, 2015 at 12:19:56
... buy anything from Nigeria.

Buyer/seller feedback ratings and number of transactions to date are the two most important things, IMO.

It might be time to consider charging a nominal fee for users that aren't Contributing Members.

In the meantime, if you see something, say something. There is a link in all the ads to report suspicious ads. When I get those emails, I'll look for when they registered and for any posts they've made. We've also got a few tricks to check IP addresses and other criteria that works to get rid of scammers and hopefully not punish the innocent.

I find far more shady stuff on Audiogon but yes as a rule free ads can have issues. Craigslist comes to mind although I've gotten and sold plenty of good stuff there.

Come on you guys, I know you have stuff lying about that you don't use ;-) I know, because I have stuff, too, just not loudspeakers at the moment.

Yes unlike Craigslist and some other places there is a searchable trail here.

For the viusually/mentally, et cetera impaired the link is in the upper right hand corner of each individual advertisement's page.

Nice feature.

Amazing little speakers in their day. I haven't played them in a few years but cannot bring myself to get rid of them.

Not to rain on your parade, but about 2 months ago I listed 6 items on both Asylum Trader and US Audio Mart. On the Asylum I sold a pair of interconnects within 24 hours...and then never heard another word about the other 5. I sold all 5 items on US Audio Mart within a week and a half and had lots of activity on all of them.
